Being  a longtime New Yorker and lifelong, diehard New York Yankee fan, this really hit home...so I thought I'd share...hope you all may be able to relate in some way and enjoy...

After 20 years, Derek Jeter will be hanging up his hat and retiring from baseball at the end of this season.

I still can't see even watching or going to the Bronx to see a game without him being there...
No one was more hard working, down to earth and a class act...an awesome rode model...so inspiring.... a true sports hero....and legend....
Baseball will not be the same...and will surely miss him...
No matter who you follow in sports...what sport you like...what team is your favorite...Derek Jeter was respected by all...even his baseball enemies loved him...his "haters"....all opposing fans and players...and many people who don't even care for baseball very much....something so hard to do and to find in todays world....and old fashioned baseball great...an old soul who played baseball the way it supposed to be played...and carried himself with class, spoke with eloquence and warmth...showed true strength of character no matter what the situation...and treated all kindly....
He transcended sports really... and truly was inspiring to so many around the world....

The word and meaning of the word "respect" is also often lost and seems so often forgotten sometimes these days in peoples day to day lives and in society.....When I was growing up...it was so very important...and one of the words to live by...a "knights code" so to speak...and the way to handle yourself and others in all things in life.....

Tonight will be Jeter's 14th & last All-Star Game. 
In honor of his incredible career, Nike Air Jordan has released this moving commercial tribute...

I recently met a wonderful, kind and very talented professional video editor/producer from Israel...
Hagit Kastel, through an awesome new friend...musician, Pip Reynolds....both of whom I met over on the video contest website  Citizen.tv a short time ago...

Hagit has made me a few new video edits of some of my youtube videos that are already out there...and they came out so awesome! Her work is top notch and so very creative!

I watched the historical and unprecedented, canonization of Pope John Paul II in St. Peter's Square in Vatican City this morning...and was re-watching it now online....

I got to see him back many years ago in NYC...Once as his motorcade passed by my E61st St apt as they were coming off the Queensborough bridge...and also in Central Park as he visited and held Mass....It was an event that was truly awe inspiring....

My Mom has always loved this man as well...and always mentions him and has always prayed to him over the years...His photo is by her bed :)

I bought her a wonderful book about his life as a Christmas Present a few years ago too...which I also read...so I thought I would do this post for those that might enjoy it....

It was from one of your oldest & tightest friends, Horace. He had sent it to you on you and Mom's wedding day...a short time after that I came online and happened upon a video of this song on a friends music page here!
