After 20 years, Derek Jeter will be hanging up his hat and retiring from baseball at the end of this season.
I still can't see even watching or going to the Bronx to see a game without him being there...
No one was more hard working, down to earth and a class act...an awesome rode model...so inspiring.... a true sports hero....and legend....
Baseball will not be the same...and will surely miss him...
No matter who you follow in sports...what sport you like...what team is your favorite...Derek Jeter was respected by all...even his baseball enemies loved him...his "haters"....all opposing fans and players...and many people who don't even care for baseball very much....something so hard to do and to find in todays world....and old fashioned baseball great...an old soul who played baseball the way it supposed to be played...and carried himself with class, spoke with eloquence and warmth...showed true strength of character no matter what the situation...and treated all kindly....
He transcended sports really... and truly was inspiring to so many around the world....
The word and meaning of the word "respect" is also often lost and seems so often forgotten sometimes these days in peoples day to day lives and in society.....When I was growing up...it was so very important...and one of the words to live by...a "knights code" so to speak...and the way to handle yourself and others in all things in life.....
Tonight will be Jeter's 14th & last All-Star Game.
