Buona Festa di San Giuseppe! (Happy Saint Joseph's Day!)

Buon Onomastico a Me!:) What an awesome way to start off the week! My name day!

Just got my first zeppole of the day!;) I love my family! Keep them coming! I can't wait to eat and then have all the pastries and zeppole!:) When I was a kid and all through the years my family always made it a point to have an awesome feast and if that could not happen or I was away from home...I always received zeppole from them or from my close friends...


Zeppole...or sfinge as some people say, are Italian pastries...a type of cream puff...or they can also be fried dough...like little italian doughnuts...there are many different types, styles and recipes depending on where in Italy you come from...they are all delicious and along with wearing the color red...

they are one of the traditions of St Joseph's Day...

I am Italian...on both sides of my family...half from Calabria and half from Naples....and I'm also Roman Catholic...and Joseph(Giuseppe) is my name, my father's name and also my grandfather's name...we are all Giuseppe's! :) lol
So this little holiday...which is often overlooked here in the US, means a lot to me and always brings back great memories...I miss my Dad and my Nonno very much...

Pasticiotti! ....and new cookbook for 2012/2013? Yes!!:)

Posted this earlier this week...so I thought I'd do a blog post too...was having some afternoon espresso and had a craving....so....a few hours later...One of my all time favorite Italian pastries....Pasticiotti!!:)

Many people have been asking...and thank you all so much for being so kind and supportive of my food posts!:)...yes...I will be working on a cook book or at least maybe a downloadable e-cook book this year!!:) Started putting it together...if you have any advice or ideas  and/or have experience with this kind of thing...or how to get it out there...your thoughts would be greatly appreciated...please contact me and let me know!!:)
